DS2 is passionate about furthering the education and skills of our team. Last week, nearly the entire development team at DS2 attended a 2-day group training focusing on React skills. Lead by web development guru, Brad Westfall of React Training, who has been teaching web development for over a decade, this two-day workshop covered React proficiency through guided lectures and project-based learning.
The topic, React, is a coding tool used to create user interface and interactive applications for mobile, web, and other platforms based in JavaScript. “This training was a great opportunity for everyone on our team to build-on existing skills and to learn new ones, furthering everyone’s personal growth as well as the capabilities of our team,” says Mike R., Software Engineer and workshop attendee. While not every member of the development team uses React daily, DS2 believes providing access to knowledge and training opportunities for relevant skills, such as React, encourages team members to continually learn and surpass goals that drive their passions.
DS2 is committed to supporting employees’ educational endeavors. In addition to company-wide trainings, DS2 also offers employees educational benefits including tuition assistance, certification reimbursement, and student loan repayment. We developed integrated ATAK and WinTAK plugins for Intellisenses’s cutting edge weather sensing hardware. After early success building an ATAK plug-in, DS2 was awarded the optional task of developing a WinTAK (Windows-based) version of the SREAF plug-in. This marked our first full implementation of a WinTAK project, and the team nailed it on the first attempt. The SREAF plug-ins make it possible for the weather data to be converted into plain text that is easily interpreted by operators, improving mission decision-making and situational awareness.
