Nauticus Robotics, a leader in autonomous marine robotics, selected DS2 to develop key components of their Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) integration. Our team delivered both an ATAK plug‑in and a TAK Server module designed to retrieve real‑time telemetry and submarine vessel state data. The plug‑in also enables operators to issue mission‑critical commands, including mission termination when required.

To support this capability, DS2 engineered a three‑part ATAK system for Nauticus:

• A containerized ROS2‑to‑ATAK middleware bridge, developed in Python and deployed in Docker, providing translation between ROS2 messages and ATAK Cursor‑on‑Target (CoT) formats.
• A standardized TAK Server implementation running in Docker containers to support application services and a PostgreSQL database.
• A custom ATAK plug‑in that delivers interactive map visualization, displaying vessel locations, mission telemetry streams, and a user command panel for mission control.

Together, these components enable seamless communication between Nauticus’ autonomous submarine platforms and ATAK operators, enhancing situational awareness and operational control in real time.
